I have read the other books in this series and I think this is the best yet. Building on the characters and stories in the other books this novella left me wanting #5. I hope Ms. Esch has started work on the next one.... and I hope it will be longer.
Another well done good read! Although it was a short book, one wished for more. Waiting for the next one from this author.
I really enjoy this series. Like the other books in the series, this one was fast-paced and left me wanting more. Those looking for a new series to read this summer should definitely check this one out. With great characters, you'll quickly find yourself absorbed in this series.
I really liked this book. It's a novella, so not a long story, but the characters were real and well illustrated. There were a lot of twists and turns as this young woman tried to sort her life out. She had a difficult task facing her, with a mother who left when she was small and never contacted her again. When the mother does make contact, it throws her into a tailspin, how should she react? Very cleverly told.
An in-depth portrayal of a young girl suddenly contacted by her mother, who had abandoned her at the age of 4. Should she go or not? How will her father and step-mother handle this? Torn with indecision, Rachel looks at her cards and reads into them what she actually wants to have happen. But things don't always turn out as expected, and neither does this.
Little White Castles is a wonderful tale about a young girl called Rachel who is faced with a huge decision. After years of living without her mother, she’s now given the opportunity to finally meet this woman face to face. Should she? After all, the woman took off and left her and her dad. Does she deserve another chance to be a part of Rachel’s life?
This story was a discovery of heartbreak and new opportunities that I was so glad to read about. Couldn’t put it down!!
This is a great emotional snapshot of a girl/young woman dealing with abandonment issues, a condition all too many of us have felt at one time or another. The author did a fine job with this sensitive, and often overlooked subject. The blended family scenario was also a nice touch, especially since that seems to be the new normal lifestyle, and familiar to many of us.
I didn't know when I started the story that it transpired in the Arizona desert, where I grew up. It was a treat to recognize and re-experience the landscape as described by the author and recall that those same vistas and foods, and the precautions one character offers, the same ones we gave 'snowbirds' when they came to visit.
